Job summary

Sonoco in Richmond, VA is seeking an Electrical Technician to maintain the plant's electrical, instrumentation and automation systems on day shift. You will support the Electric Shop with troubleshooting, calibration, and documentation, ensuring safety and reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates must be a Journeyman Electrician with an Associate Degree or 5+ years of experience, strong controls software skills, HV experience, and ability to read P&ID and wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician Card required.
• Associate degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or 5+ years' industrial electrical experience.
• Proficient in computer controls software and MS Office.
• Strong knowledge of piping and instrument diagrams, signal flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one-line drawings, loop sheets and wire lists.
• High voltage experience required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the integrity and reliability of the plant's electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
• Advanced level of installation, diagnosis, calibration, documentation, maintenance and repair of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• General support of the Electric Shop including troubleshooting, call-ins, overtime, repairs, shutdowns and projects.
• Paper mill and power plant PLC, automation, and controls responsibilities.
• Configure and troubleshoot using local interface and communication software.
