Job summary

JDC Power Systems, LLC is seeking an Industrial Electrical Field Commissioning Specialist to troubleshoot, maintain, and commission electrical systems at customer sites. You will lead service visits, provide operator training, and deliver test reports with performance feedback.

This role requires 3-5 years in field service with power systems and industrial controls, plus a commitment to safety and travel nationwide. Sterling, VA regional office supports frequent on-site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's in electrical engineering preferred.
• 3-5 years hands-on with power systems, transformers, circuit breakers, and industrial controls.
• Strong troubleshooting, customer communication, and proficiency with field service software, ERP, and MS Office.
• Nice-to-haves: low-/medium-voltage expertise; exposure to PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on-site; identify faults, perform maintenance, and restore uptime with diagnostics.
• Commission systems and support startups so equipment meets specifications and operates as designed.
• Lead service visits with customers; provide basic training, deliver test reports, and give performance feedback.
• Track time, parts, and on-site inventory; use remote troubleshooting tools when helpful.
• Maintain safety by following OSHA standards and company procedures; keep certifications current.

As an Industrial Electrical Field Commissioning Specialist, you'll troubleshoot, maintain, and commission electrical systems and industrial controls at customer sites - delivering safe, reliable performance every time.

Is this you?

• Do you have 3-5 years of field service experience with power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls?
• Can you diagnose issues on transformers, circuit breakers, PLC-controlled systems, and LV/MV switchgear quickly and confidently?
• Are you comfortable being the primary contact at the customer site - training operators, explaining findings, and documenting results?
• Do you thrive when traveling, solving problems on the spot, and keeping rigorous safety standards?

What you'll do

What you'll bring

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's in electrical engineering or related field preferred. NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or similar credentials are a plus.
• Experience: 3-5 years hands-on with power systems, transformers, circuit breakers, and industrial controls.
• Skills: Advanced troubleshooting, clear communication with customers, and fluency with field service software, ERP tools, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Nice-to-haves: Low- and medium-voltage expertise; exposure to PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.

Travel & must-haves

• Frequent travel with overnight stays to customer sites and JDC locations across the country.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
• Comfort with standard test instruments (e.g., multimeters, breaker test sets).

Where you'll work

• Regional office: Sterling, VA.
• Daily/weekly regional travel to customer sites and internal field service locations.
• Occasional nationwide travel.
