Job summary

Zachry Group in Omaha is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to contribute to the design of electrical systems for industrial plants at the Omaha Design Center. You will help create schematics, perform quality checks, and interface with procurement on equipment specs.

You will work under a design engineering group manager, perform duties on a variety of projects, and build experience in electrical power distribution and drafting coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
• At least 1 year of experience working as an electrical engineer for Power and/or Industrial Projects.
• Effective Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
• Strong desire to learn
• Good Judgment and Decision Making; Attention to Detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Access or similar programs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in a team environment on projects involving new design, modifications, retrofits, or conceptual designs for utility scale and industrial electrical power distribution systems.
• Execute project-specific tasks related to electrical power distribution under direction of a senior engineer.
• Write electrical equipment and general construction specifications as part of typical duties.
• Assist designers/drafters in creating and revising one-line diagrams, motor control schematics, and interconnection wiring diagrams.
• Compile and review lists related to electrical equipment and process electrical loads.
• Perform voltage drop calculations and select conductor sizes using NEC criteria.
• Create and maintain distribution panel schedules.
• Design cable routing parameters using project drawings and schematics.
