About the Role

We are seeking a DRAFTER for the Industrial division. The primary function of this role will be to use computer‑aided drafting software to provide design and drafting support for shop fabrication and field installation projects.

Essential Duties
  • Use three-dimensional modeling software to provide detailed, accurate, and timely shop and assembly drawings for the purpose of fabricating equipment in the shop or installing equipment in the field.
  • Shows dimensions, material to be used, and other information necessary to make detailed drawings clear and complete.
  • Prepares working drawings from sketches and design specifications.
  • Provide conceptual drawings for helping estimators with the bidding process.
  • Aid in the inspection of shop fabricated work for correctness of assembly and fabrication per the drawings that are produced.
  • Help during the estimating process by doing material take‑offs and labor estimates.
  • Estimate design/drafting time for use in the bidding process.
  • Provide files to program cutting and machining equipment.
  • Become involved in the design process by helping the engineers with basic engineering calculations and equipment design while producing the drawings required for the project.
  • Ability to meet customers, walk project sites, obtain bid documents, estimate, and provide detailed written proposal.
  • Review and become familiar with the project drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and the overall schedule.
  • Attend contractor and client progress meetings.
  • Ensure that 4C2 quality standards are maintained for all work installed on the project.
  • Store current as‑built drawings throughout the project with project Superintendent/Foremen.
  • Promote 4C2 safety policy on the project and develop site‑specific safety plan (if one does not already exist).
  • Follow‑up and successfully remedy warranty issues related to the project in a timely manner.
  • Maintain excellent relationship with client. Achieve 100% client satisfaction with work on project.
  • Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties.
  • Drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours. Additional travel out of immediate area may be required.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company policy.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Environment, Physical, and Mental Requirements
  • Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • May perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Must be able to visit job sites and perform duties with and around hazardous and/or flammable materials, as well as monitor heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities.
  • Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner.
Requirements
  • Must have High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing, industrial application, and material product handling facilities preferred.
  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of how long it takes and what materials are required to accomplish specific tasks.
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or other 3D Modeling and design programs.
  • Must have good decision making and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Must have strong math skills for billings, tracking, and forecasting project costs.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of construction sequencing.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must have good organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Previous project/construction management experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, and other construction documentation.
  • Must have good customer service abilities.
  • Must have good leadership skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and non‑standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required.
  • A current valid driver’s license is required.
Safety Sensitive

This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive position as it requires the ability to concentrate for long periods of time while operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles. This work will often be done with and around hazardous materials at elevated heights and confined spaces. A lapse of attention on the job could result in injury, illness, or death.

Preferred Experience
Design Drafter I (0-3 Years)
  • Associate’s degree or Mechanical Drafting Certificate.
  • Basic knowledge of drafting principles.
  • Proficient user of CAD software.
  • Requires supervision on most projects.
Design Drafter II (3-8 Years)
  • Advanced user of SolidWorks/Inventor and AutoCAD or other CAD software.
  • Requires some supervision on projects when working on new project types.
  • Able to work as sole designer/drafter on small projects.
  • Has a complete understanding of the technical procedures and processes that relate to drafting and design.
  • Some certification and/or training certificates related to the career field.
Design Drafter III (8+ Years)
  • Expert user of SolidWorks/Inventor and AutoCAD or other CAD software (able to train others).
  • Able to lead a group of drafter/designers on large projects.
  • Provides project information related to budget, schedule, and direction to others.
  • Understands how to interpret information found in engineering reports and specifications to create designs and drawings.
  • Able to work on all types of projects with little supervision.
  • Check drawings and designs.
  • Able to support design modifications to solve problems.
  • Has several certifications and/or training certificates related to the career field.
