Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, seeks an Industrial Designer to own Class A surface development for exterior robot parts and drive cosmetic finish specifications and CMF decisions. You’ll work with design engineers to ensure producible geometry and support tooling through early sample reviews in a fast-paced hardware team.

You will evaluate materials and finishes for new components during NPI, communicate design intent in reviews, and help maintain a cohesive product language across the robot

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience.
• Experience in management of engineering design projects.

Responsibilities

• Own Class A surface development for injection molded exterior parts from concept to production-intent 3D models.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to ensure surfaces are DFM-compliant with correct draft, thickness, and parting line strategy.
• Refine surface models throughout tooling development and incorporate feedback from sample reviews.
• Support 2D cosmetic drawing callouts including finish, texture zones, parting lines, and appearance-critical areas.
• Define and document cosmetic finish specifications and CMF documentation, including material callouts and color standards.
• Source and evaluate finish and texture options with tooling vendors and surface finish suppliers.
• Maintain cosmetic appearance standards and assist with first article cosmetic inspection criteria.
• Communicate design intent clearly during reviews and help select materials and finishes for new components during NPI.
