Job summary

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation in Phoenix is seeking an Industrial Designer II to develop drawings, high-fidelity renderings and concept models of electronic product enclosures for guitar amps, speakers and related gear.

You will collaborate with the VP of Design, engineering and product teams, research materials, propose manufacturing processes and produce graphic renderings for presentations. This role emphasizes collaboration and strong design presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Design or Equivalent.
• 3-5 Years Experience.
• Proficient with Macintosh/PC design tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand, SolidWorks, InDesign, Word, Keyshot rendering.
• Strong sketching and manual artwork skills; comfortable with Cintiq.
• Modeling (prototype) skills.
• Good communication with Marketing/Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develops overall product design concepts from PRD input.
• Conducts user studies and reports results for R&D and Product Team.
• Creates front/rear panel graphics, finishes, components and concepts for guitar amps, speakers and electronics.
• Collaborates with engineering and marketing on new projects, including ergonomics and materials/process considerations.
• Produces graphic renderings for Marketing presentations of new designs.
• Assists graphic designer and technical writer with overflow work.
• Interacts with vendors for materials required for cosmetic aspects of a design.
