3M is seeking an Undergraduate Industrial Design Intern for Summer 2027 in the Safety & Industrial Business Group. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design user-centered products, build prototypes, and gain hands-on experience in product design and research at 3M Design.

Responsibilities include concept development, CAD modeling, prototyping, and participation in design reviews, with mentorship and structured onboarding during a 10–12 week program in Maplewood, MN.

Qualifikationen

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Industrial Design from an accredited institution.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and design tools like SolidWorks, Rhino, or KeyShot.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development and prototyping.
• Interest in user research, ergonomics, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to translate user needs into practical product concepts.

Aufgaben

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, marketers, and product managers on design concepts.
• Develop sketches, CAD models, renderings, and prototypes to communicate ideas.
• Support research, usability testing, and documentation of design work.
• Contribute to design reviews and workshops to refine concepts.
• Translate insights into actionable design recommendations aligned with 3M standards.
