Brunswick Boat Group is seeking an Industrial Design Intern for the Edgewater, FL area. This full‑time internship runs May–August 2026 and involves developing new boat concepts for Brunswick brands such as Boston Whaler, Sea Ray and Bayliner.

You’ll translate requirements into designs, create sketches and 3D models, and support engineering to ensure manufacturability. The program offers hands‑on design experience, collaboration with cross‑functional teams, and exposure to marine product

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years towards a bachelor’s degree in industrial design.
  • Marine related experience preferred, however not required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess strong rendering and sketching skills.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Translate verbal and written product requirements into conceptual boat designs meeting function, feature, and cost targets.
  • Synthesize and develop new product ideas as sketches, 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Incorporate innovative design ideas into new product development.
  • Ensure timely and adequate completion of all design projects.
  • Communicate, organize and interpret design intent to management and engineering teams.
  • Interact with design personnel in other Brunswick Group product development organizations to leverage design standards and innovations.
  • Present reasons for recommending one design approach over another.
  • Ensure manufacturability is incorporated into boat design.
  • Assist engineering with problems, changes, and new techniques.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure design specs are met.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or learn boat construction.

Position Overview:

The industrial design team is looking for a full-time design intern to help in developing new boats and driving innovation within our group. As part of the design team, you will have the opportunity to generate and develop concepts and designs for Brunswick Boat Group products which may include Boston Whaler, Sea Ray, Lund, Crestliner, Lowe, Harris, Bayliner, and Heyday. The design team handles the research, design, and development of new products, creating the form and function that delivers on our customers’ needs. The position involves a wide range of responsibilities that will build upon our current design language as well as creating the future of our product offering.

Essential Functions
  • Convert verbal and written product requirements for new boat models into conceptual designs that meet functional, feature, and cost targets
  • Synthesize and develop new product ideas in the form of sketches, two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional models
  • Appropriately incorporated innovative design ideas into new product development
  • Ensure timely and adequate completion of all design projects.
  • Communicate, organize and interpret design intent to management and engineering team members
  • Interact with design personnel in other Brunswick Group product development organizations to leverage design standards and innovations.
  • Present reasons for recommending one design approach over another
  • Ensure that manufacturability is incorporated into boat design
  • Assist engineering with problems, changes, and new techniques
  • Must work well with others in a team environment and foster clear and continuous communication with other groups to which design will affect
  • Coordinate the construction and review of product mock-ups
  • Work with suppliers (both internal and external) to ensure that design specifications are met
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or the ability to learn boat construction
  • Incorporate all applicable marine standards into the design of boat models
  • Must follow proper procedures in the safe handling of hazardous wastes, which may be generated during the manufacturing process
  • This internship will be a full-time commitment from May to August 2026
Internship Projects to include:
  • Active boat programs and other assigned work
  • Sketch new ideas on Boston Whaler, Sea Ray, Lund, Bayliner, and many other Brunswick brands.
  • 3D model ideas to validate that it COULD work.
  • Help build mock-ups of your ideas to validate that it DOES work.
  • Attend design and engineering reviews to give constructive critique and generate ideas.

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years towards a bachelor’s degree in industrial design
  • Marine related experience preferred, however not required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess strong rendering and sketching skills
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Must have completed sophomore year of college in related area of focus.
  • Computer design experience to include 3-D modeling techniques required (Rhino preferred)
  • Proficiency in PC based tools with a focus on Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes. and general web-based applications
  • Please provide a portfolio (under 2 GB in size) or a link to an online portfolio.
  • Boating, fishing and/or marine industry experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Hours: Co-ops and Interns are expected to work a full 40-hour work week
  • Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co-op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
