Job summary

Kohler invites students to join its design team for a co-op in industrial design, onsite in Kohler, WI, May 2027–December 2027. You’ll engage in benchmarking, concept development, prototyping, and storytelling to shape kitchen and bath products.

You will gain mentorship from industry-leading designers, work across disciplines, and contribute to visual presentations while developing a strong understanding of user needs and market opportunities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university-level program in Industrial Design or a related discipline such as environmental design, furniture design, UX/UI design, architecture.
• Strong creative point of view with attention to form, details, proportion, function and user experience.
• Proficiency in sketching, visual storytelling, presentation development, and digital modeling tools; experience with Rhino, SolidWorks, 3ds Max or KeyShot preferred.
• Coursework or hands-on experience in graphic design, engineering, interior design, architecture, product development, or related disciplines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers and cross-functional partners to support benchmarking, research, concept development, and product design for Kohler’s kitchen and bath portfolio.
• Contribute to presentation development by creating visuals, building prototypes, refining design concepts, and storytelling to bring ideas to life.
• Develop understanding of market needs, user expectations, and design opportunities through hands-on research, brainstorming, and problem-solving.

WhatYou’ll Do

• Collaborate with designers and cross-functional partners to support benchmarking, research, concept development, and product design for Kohler’s kitchen and bath portfolio.
• Contribute to presentation development by creating compelling visuals, building prototypes, refining design concepts, and helping bring new ideas to life through clear storytelling and thoughtful execution.
• Build a strong understanding of market needs, user expectations, and emerging design opportunities through hands-on research, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving exercises that encourage creativity and push design boundaries.

Skills/Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university-level program in Industrial Design or a related discipline, such as environmental design, furniture design, UX/UI design, architecture, or a closely related creative field.
• Brings a strong creative point of view, with a thoughtful eye for form, detail, proportion, function, and the overall user experience.
• Demonstrates proficiency in sketching, visual storytelling, presentation development, and digital modeling tools, with experience in Rhino, SolidWorks, 3ds Max, KeyShot, or similar design platforms preferred.
• Coursework or hands-on experience in graphic design, engineering, interior design, architecture, product development, or related disciplines is a plus and will help support success in this co-op experience.
