Job summary

Sims Metal in Baltimore, MD is hiring a Welder Mechanic to perform maintenance, welding, fabrication, and repairs on conveyor systems and industrial equipment at our scrap metal recycling facility.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of welding and mechanical maintenance experience with strong MIG and Stick welding skills, plus experience with industrial conveyors, bearings, pulleys, and gearboxes in heavy environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years welding, mechanical maintenance, or industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong MIG and Stick welding skills.
• Experience maintaining and repairing industrial conveyor systems strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with bearings, rollers, pulleys, gearboxes, motors, chains, and shafts.
• Ability to use torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and fabrication tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on conveyor systems, rollers, bearings, pulleys, shafts, gearboxes, motors, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot conveyor breakdowns and mechanical failures to minimize downtime.
• Perform MIG and Stick welding on structural steel and industrial equipment.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair chutes, guards, brackets, frames, platforms, and other steel components.
• Replace and repair conveyor belts, rollers, bearings, sprockets, chains, and related components.
