Job summary

BRT Extrusions is seeking a knowledgeable Industrial Controls Technician to support, troubleshoot, and maintain our automated systems. You will work with controls engineering, maintenance, and production to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.

The role requires strong electrical troubleshooting, understanding PLCs, HMIs, drives, and safety systems; you will help with commissioning and become part of the long-term controls standards development.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting ability on extrusion, press, and heavy hydraulic systems.
• Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation control platforms, including PLCs, PanelView HMIs, PowerFlex drives, Kinetix servo systems.
• Ability to read ladder logic and navigate PLC programs for troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of 24 VDC and 120 VAC control schemes, wiring practices, and safety.
• Experience with IO-Link, EtherNet/IP, IO-Link sensors, and field devices.
• Ability to document steps, findings, and corrective actions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, support, and maintain industrial control systems and automated equipment.
• Reduce downtime by identifying root causes and performing RCA.
• Commission controls devices and assist system commissioning under direction.
• Modify PLC/HMI programs under engineering guidance for improvements.
• Serve as first level controls support for Production and Maintenance.
• Read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose issues.
• Document troubleshooting steps and corrective actions thoroughly.
• Use CMMS software to manage work orders and maintenance activities.
