Qualifications

Industrial Controls Technician

Position Summary

The Industrial Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated industrial control systems. This role supports reliable and efficient manufacturing operations by maintaining PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, electrical controls, and automation equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with industrial automation platforms, motor control systems, and industrial communication networks, along with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and modify industrial control systems and automation equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs using ladder logic, structured text, and other programming methods.
  • Develop, maintain, and support HMI applications and operator interfaces.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain SCADA systems used for monitoring and controlling plant operations.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controls, soft starters, and servo systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, Profibus, or similar protocols.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and control panel layouts.
  • Troubleshoot sensors, transmitters, instrumentation, and other automated control devices.
  • Install, wire, and repair electrical control panels and associated components.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment, programming changes, and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLC platforms such as Allen‑Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), Siemens, or equivalent.
  • Experience programming, troubleshooting, and modifying PLC systems.
  • Proficiency with HMI software such as FactoryTalk View, PanelView, WinCC, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with SCADA systems for process monitoring and control.
  • Hands‑on experience with VFDs, motor controls, soft starters, and servo systems.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, DeviceNet, Profibus, or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, instrumentation, sensors, and automated equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience using PLC programming software such as Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, TIA Portal, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with SCADA configuration, alarm management, and historical data trending.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with robotics, automated production systems, or advanced manufacturing technologies.

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, including lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to support production needs, including occasional overtime or off‑shift work as required.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $46.00 per hour
