What your day looks likeYou start by prioritizing work orders, then move into hands-on diagnostics across both mechanical and electrical systems. Using testing instruments, hand and power tools, and precision measuring devices, you repair, replace, and align critical components. You complete preventative maintenance rounds, perform ballbar and laser alignment checks, and audit facility security and utility services. Throughout the day, you coordinate with outside suppliers about replacement parts and technical services, request quotes as needed, and keep meticulous records in the maintenance system.Core responsibilitiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a wide range of machine tools, attachments, and auxiliaries, including horizontal and vertical lathes, mills, shapers, hobs, cranes, and hoists.Work confidently on older shapers and hobs (Fellows, Liebherr, Pfauter).Apply strong control systems knowledge: Fanuc, Mazak (Mazatrol), Siemens, Okuma OSP, and Haas; Heidenhain is a plus.Use Renishaw probing and ballbar systems; perform laser alignment and leveling.Perform machining, installation, maintenance, repair, and renovation on equipment, hand tools, and auxiliary systems, extending to HVAC, plant buildings, facilities, and utilities.Install, service, diagnose, and repair electrical and electronic systems on machines and auxiliaries; scope also includes HVAC, buildings, facilities, and utilities.Disassemble assemblies, repair or replace parts, reassemble, align, and adjust to spec; verify with post-repair testing for both mechanical and electrical performance.Rig and install equipment; lay out and connect required services.Execute new equipment installs and machine rebuilds across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic domains; document hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC wiring and programming, and mechanical systems.Upgrade CNCs and resolve complex faults across mechanical and electrical components.Create, read, revise, and document changes to blueprints, sheet metal drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, electrical schematics, PLC wiring diagrams, PLC programs, and circuit diagrams.Collaborate with internal teams and external technical resources; obtain quotes and coordinate service/parts.Cut, weld (MIG and TIG), and fabricate parts for machines, covers, and guarding.Conduct analytical troubleshooting and advanced maintenance tasks.Install and maintain motors, power and lighting circuits, starters, and circuit breakers; diagnose circuits, including solid-state controls.Read hydraulic schematics and resolve hydraulic issues on CNC equipment.Operate the maintenance system to log activities and close work orders; issue and complete work orders accurately.Promote 6S, maintain a safe/clean work area, follow all safety procedures.Support a team-first environment; train new hires and mentor lower classification technicians; participate in cross-training across electrical and mechanical.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsElectrician License preferred (required to have or obtain).Comfort with shop math, charts, tables, and handbook formulas.Skilled with a wide range of measuring instruments and familiar with machine tool operations, methods, and materials.Physical requirementsLift, move, and manipulate up to 35 lbs.Comfortable working at heights.Stand and/or walk for extended periods.Must pass PIE requirements to operate equipment. You are proficient inCNC Machine RepairCNC Machine InstallationMachines and technologies you’ll work withCNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC)CNC Automation SolutionsCNC Laser CutterCNC Lathe (2–4 axis)CNC RouterCNC Swiss LatheCNC GrinderCNC Mill (5+ axis VMC)CNC Lathe (5+ axis)
