Job summary

GROUP Contractors in Baton Rouge seeks an Industrial Carpenter Helper to support construction, erection, and installation of structures using hand and power tools.

You will read blueprints, select materials, measure and cut, shape components, and assemble them with nails and glue. Duty includes forming and supporting concrete work; safety and teamwork are essential on outdoor jobsites.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industrial field experience as an Industrial Carpenter Helper.
• Must take in-house Carpenter Helper Assessment or hold NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification.
• Must hold a valid TWIC Card and OSHA Basic Plus.
• Must pass all Safety Council related courses.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints, sketches, or plans for material and dimension information.
• Selects and transports materials and tools for the job.
• Measures and marks cutting lines on material.
• Shapes materials to prescribed measurements.
• Assembles parts and fastens with nails, glue, or dowel pins.
• Braces forms for concrete piers, footings, and walls.
• Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
• Checks trueness with plumb bob/level; assists survey tasks.
