Job summary

PALA Interstate, LLC seeks an experienced carpenter to read blueprints, measure and cut materials, and assemble forms on construction sites in Baton Rouge. This full-time, on-site role requires strong math skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Applicants should have at least four years of carpentry experience. NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification is strongly desired, and candidates must pass an internal assessment test.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years' carpentry experience.
• NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification strongly desired.
• Must pass our in-house Carpenter Assessment Test.
• High School or GED preferred but not required.
• Trade School program preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Reads and studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to material requirements and dimensions.
• Selects and transports materials and tools for job.
• Measures boards, timbers, plywood or other materials and marks cutting lines.
• Shapes materials to prescribed measurements with saws, chisels and planes.
• Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens with nails, glue or dowels.
• Braces forms in place for concrete piers, footings and walls.
• Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
• Builds false work to support buildings during construction.
• Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob or level.
• Erects scaffolding up to 75 ft. high and installs ladders, handrails.
