Job summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Carpenter in Altoona, PA for a full-time role 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with rotating on-call and snow removal duties.

The position involves installing and maintaining ceiling systems, doors, flooring, drywall, and glazing, plus performing general construction tasks in an institutional setting. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, five years of carpentry experience, and a valid driver's license with Act 34 clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of carpentry experience in a similar setting.
• Two years in institutional maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain ceiling systems (acoustical tile and suspension).
• Knowledge of fire/smoke door assemblies for installation, inspection and repair.
• Set hollow metal door jambs and hang doors.
• Install and repair flooring systems.
• Work with metal studs, drywall, glass and glazing.
• Work at heights on ladders and scaffolds for maintenance and new installation.
• Assist in snow removal duties.
• Maintain and repair wheelchair and litter equipment.
• Read and interpret a rule.
• Repair Class I builders hardware (cylindrical and mortise).
• Available for on-call duties.
• Knowledge of construction framing/finishing or general carpentry.
• Five years in carpentry field; two years institutional maintenance preferred.
• Basic familiarity with email/Word and common software.
• Licensure: Driver's License and Act 34.
