Job summary

East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Service Technician for our Columbus, Ohio area. The role requires daily travel to customer sites to install, maintain, and service industrial batteries and related charging equipment.

A company service vehicle is provided for work assignments. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled with strong electrical knowledge, holds a valid driver's license, and can work independently with a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate resides in Greater Columbus, Ohio area.
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Experience with industrial batteries and electrical systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and service industrial batteries, chargers and related equipment at customer sites.
• Travel daily to customer locations within the Columbus area.
• Report to Service Manager based out of Miamisburg, OH.
• May require occasional overnight travel.
• Create and maintain service documentation detailing fleet, repairs and recommendations.
• Maintain regular attendance and be able to work mandatory overtime.

Overview

East Penn Mfg., a world class leader in lead‑acid battery manufacturing is expanding our service network and has an Industrial Service Technician position open at our Tri‑City Industrial Power facility Columbus, Ohio. This field technician role requires daily travel to the customers within your Columbus territory and weekly travel to our local facility to restock parts and supplies for your service vehicle. You will be assigned a company service vehicle for use during work assignments and customer visits. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, works well independently, and has a customer focused mindset.

Starting hourly wage of $26.50 or more depending on industry experience.

Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the mechanical installation, maintenance and service of industrial batteries, chargers and battery charging equipment at the customer’s facility. Someone with excellent mechanical ability, strong electrical knowledge, and good customer service and communication skills is a good candidate.

• Dealing with customer complaints and down equipment.
• Travels to customer locations daily.
• Service territory covers the Greater Columbus, OH area.
• Reports to Service Manager based out of Miamisburg, OH.
• May require some infrequent overnight travel.
• Evaluates battery and charging equipment.
• Must be able to make on‑site repairs of batteries and chargers.
• Must be able to create and maintain documents explaining customer's fleet by type, amp hour, repairs, recommendations, billing, and repairs.
• Maintains regular attendance.
• Ability to work mandatory over time.
• Performs other duties as requested by Management.

Qualifications

Skills: Mechanical ability. Strong electrical background, AC/DC preferred with basic knowledge of 240V three phase and 480V three phase. Strong communication skills and self motivation.
