East Penn Manufacturing Company, a leading automotive battery manufacturer, is seeking an Industrial Battery Service Technician to service customers in the Berks County and Lehigh Valley area. The role involves installation, maintenance, and on‑site repairs, with a company vehicle provided.

You should have strong electrical and mechanical skills, the ability to read schematics and manuals, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical background spanning 120V 1 phase to 480V 3 phase.
• Solid mechanical skills and ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Excellent writing and communication skills for documentation and customer interaction.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and service industrial batteries, chargers and charging equipment at the customer site.
• Address customer complaints and down equipment in a timely manner.
• Travel daily to customer locations within the Eastern Pennsylvania territory.
• Service area includes Berks County, Lehigh Valley, South to Philadelphia suburbs, North to Scranton, and West to State College.
• Create and maintain documents detailing customer fleet by type, amp hour, repairs, recommendations, billing, and repairs.
• Maintain regular attendance and safe, high‑quality workmanship.

Overview

East Penn Mfg., a world class leader in automotive battery manufacturing is expanding our service network and is currently seeking an Industrial Battery Service Technician in the Berks County & Lehigh Valley area. The Service Technician will communicate and work with maintenance managers, maintenance mechanics, electric truck mechanics, electricians, contractors, and East Penn Manufacturing's salespeople to provide service to customers within their Eastern Pennsylvania territory.

You will be assigned a company service vehicle for use during work assignments and customer visits. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical background, a customer focused mindset, and is highly self-motivated.

Starting hourly wage between $24.00 - $26.00 or more depending on industry experience.

Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the mechanical installation, maintenance and service of industrial batteries, chargers and battery charging equipment at the customer’s facility. Someone with excellent mechanical ability, general electrical knowledge and good customer service and communication skills is a good candidate.

• Dealing with customer complaints and down equipment.
• Travels to customer locations daily.
• Service territory covers Eastern Pennsylvania stretching South to the North Philadelphia Suburbs, North to Scranton, PA, and West to State College, PA
• Evaluates battery and charging equipment.
• Must be able to make on‑site repairs of batteries and chargers.
• Must be able to create and maintain documents explaining customer's fleet by type, amp hour, repairs, recommendations, billing, and repairs.
• Maintains regular attendance.
• Ability to work mandatory over time.
• Performs other duties as requested by Management.
• Responsible for producing a high‑quality product.
• Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices.

Qualifications

Good driving record, able to read and understand numerous technical manuals, good writing skills, general math skills, strong mechanical skills, strong communication skills, strong electrical background from 120 volt 1 phase to 480 volt 3 phase, AC to DC rectification, able to read schematics, control circuits, basic electronics (A Must), component level to circuits, battery knowledge, able to take voltage and gravity readings, understanding how a lead acid battery works, burning, welding, soldering, knowledge of forklifts and pallet jacks, able to work alone, self-starter. Basic computer skills with experience windows based programs (Word, EXCEL). Job requires rare overnight trips. Must be able to climb and work on ladders, gantries, and cat walks. Must be able to bend, squat, and lift, move, and or slide up to 200 lb. battery cells approximately 25" high.COMPUTER SKILLS, Basic Computer Skills, Word, Personal Computer (PC); REASONING SKILLS, Does troubleshooting and provides potential solutions for problems and communicate ideas, Ability to evaluate, Ability to resolve discrepancies; MECHANICAL SKILLS, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Ability to operate a torch, Basic understanding of AC and DC electricity a plus

Must currently reside in the Greater Berks County or Lehigh Valley areas, with daily travel as needed.
