Associated is hiring an Industrial Battery Field Service Technician for the Southwest Chicagoland territory, based in Orland Park, IL. You will troubleshoot motive power batteries and chargers, install and maintain equipment, and provide professional customer service on-site.

Responsibilities include service calls, maintenance, and safety compliance while keeping tools and van in good condition. A valid driver’s license and high school diploma are required, with 1–3 years in a related role

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma/GED and/or 1–3 years’ experience in electrical theory, motive power battery and charger repair in a similar environment or equivalent in college or vocational education.
• Excellent people skills and verbal communication is necessary.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, maps, blueprints, and technical service manuals.
• Hands-on experience with AC/DC power conversion, battery systems, high-voltage applications, and material handling equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver professional, customer-focused service while communicating clearly and courteously with internal and external customers.
• Practical experience with chemical reactions involving acids and alkalis in an industrial/technical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to weld and solder lead using an open-flame torch safely.
• Strong written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations supporting technical work.
• Willingness to follow verbal, written instructions accurately and safely.
• Experience staying current with industry innovations to recommend solutions based on customer needs.

Industrial Battery Field Service Technician - Southwest Chicagoland Territory

Wage range based on experience:$28 - $38 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Effectively analyzes problem situations pertaining to breakdowns of customer equipment and recommends to customer actions necessary to correct situation.
• Exhibits a professional demeanor and promotes goodwill between the company and customers by providing a superior level of customer service.
• Observes, analyzes, and determines corrective course of action for service and repair of customer equipment.
• Performs necessary repairs on batteries and chargers to correct analyzed situations in a professional and productive manner.
• Performs scheduled maintenance on equipment for contracted customers according to Company policies and procedures.
• Washes, cleans and neutralizes customer’s batteries at customer’s site
• Follows safety rules and ensures that hazardous waste is disposed of properly.
• Opens and closes work orders with Dispatch, provides service repair narratives (written and verbal) for customer, and submits paperwork for time worked and repairs completed in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
• Accounts for 100% of paid time.
• Maintains part inventory and supplies in van.
• Maintains service van to ensure that it is clean, organized and hazard free inside and out
• Ensures that regular maintenance is performed on service van (i.e., oil changes, tire rotations, etc.) and that required repairs are performed.
• Responsible for maintaining personal tools required for performing the job effectively and safely.
• Maintains awareness of hazardous materials used daily and maintains personal hygiene accordingly.
• Responsible for following customer’s safety and housekeeping guidelines when performing repairs at customer site.
• Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven ability to safely operate drills, grinders, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes, and hand tools in accordance with safety guidelines.

• Willingness and ability to perform additional duties as assigned in support of business and operational needs.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to operate this forklift, you must safely fit inside a tight operator compartment measuring 16 to 20 inches wide and perform mechanical repairs in restricted, confined spaces.

This position requires the following physical activities on a regular basis:
