Job summary

JSW Steel USA is seeking an Automation Technician to install, repair and maintain electrical systems across the steelmaking operations, including furnaces and caster equipment. You will test and upgrade components, diagnose failures from schematics, and coordinate with maintenance and operations teams.

Ideal candidates have an associate or technical degree in PLC/electrical fields and at least 3 years of hands-on experience.

Qualifications

Associates or Two-Year Technical Degree in PLC, Industrial Electrical, Electromechanical, Automation or similar field.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on work experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation and controls.
Strong communication skills to coordinate and relay information between various departments.
Experience in troubleshooting AC and DC drives, PLCs, motor control circuits and AC crane controls.
PLC to I/O to field device troubleshooting experience is required.

Responsibilities

Maintain equipment in Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Metallurgical Furnace, Continuous Caster and all support equipment.
Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot instrumentation, controls and electrical systems including PLCs, protection relays and MCCs.
Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance per procedures.
Read electrical schematics and apply technical knowledge to diagnose failures.
Document completed tasks and develop PM plans to mitigate future breakdowns.
Collaborate with maintenance, operations and automation staff to solve problems.
Work in various areas of the mill, including confined spaces and high-risk environments.
