Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago is seeking an Engineer Technician I to support industrial automation and control systems. You will troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and related equipment to minimize production downtime and assist in design, startup, and commissioning.

The role requires high school/technical training and at least 5 years of technical experience with PLC-based systems, preferably Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens, and a basic understanding of PC hardware.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC-based control systems; familiarity with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens platforms.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation to troubleshoot equipment.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical service with daily monitoring and troubleshooting of assigned systems.
• Troubleshoot industrial automation and control systems (PLCs, HMIs, sensors) to minimize downtime.
• Assist engineers in design, installation, startup, and commissioning of equipment and processes.
• Maintain documentation, logs, and SOPs for regulatory compliance.
