Job summary

ADM is seeking an experienced Automation Software Lead to drive modernization of process control systems in industrial automation projects at the Des Moines site. You will lead software configuration, governance of vendor designs, and the integration of systems such as Emerson DeltaV and Rockwell PlantPAx to deliver robust, scalable solutions aligned with ADM standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field; experience may substitute education.
• 7+ years in industrial automation software development and at least 3 years in project execution.
• Proven track record designing and implementing software for process control systems (DeltaV/PlantPAx preferred).
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP).
• Expertise in configuring and programming control logic, HMI, and data historian systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead governance and oversight of third-party automation vendor software design.
• Oversee software engineering tasks including system configuration, programming, and integration.
• Plan and execute upgrades for legacy control software to enhance performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with hardware and control system engineers and project managers for seamless integration.
• Develop and maintain software specifications, functional descriptions, and programming documentation.
• Lead testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities and coordinate FAT/SAT for software components.
• Ensure designs comply with ISA/IEC standards and cybersecurity requirements (IEC 62443).
• Coordinate with vendors for procurement of software tools, licenses, and services within budget constraints.
• Mentor junior software engineers and promote technical excellence.
