Position: Industrial / Automation Engineer

The Industrial / Automation Engineer will work closely with account managers to develop innovative industrial and automation solutions aimed at increasing component sales.

Required Skills and Education:

1. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent applicable work experience
2. Advanced mathematical skills for calculation of design equations
3. Excellent communication skills for explaining technical details to peers and customers
4. Strong writing skills for manuals, parts lists, proposals, and documentation
5. Ability to supervise technicians
6. Focus and concentration to understand complex electrical systems
7. Self-motivation to stay updated with new electrical technologies
8. Proficiency with industry-specific tools to analyze and test electronics
9. Time-management skills to meet deadlines

Preferred Software Experience:

1. Experience with IEC 61131-3 PLC languages (Structured Text, Function Block, CFC, Ladder)
2. Experience with Codesys 3.5 (Eaton, Festo, IFM, etc.) is a plus
3. Familiarity with industrial fieldbus/Ethernet protocols
4. Experience with HMI software
5. Experience with 2D electrical CAD modeling (AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent)
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Essential Functions:

1. Adhere to engineering best practices and standards for electrical schematics, panels, programming, and system solutions
2. Design and layout electrical systems
3. Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to develop component standardization
4. Work on circuit and system designs for projects
5. Coordinate with pricing/purchasing for supplier and component selection
6. Oversee projects in collaboration with manufacturing and production
7. Produce design reports and documentation
8. Test new systems and implement design modifications
9. Perform off-site commissioning and field service

Engineering Systems and Sales Support:

1. Develop system statements of work with account managers
2. Prepare cost estimates for clients and team members
3. Communicate with customers verbally and in writing
4. Engage in product development and documentation
