Job summary

Mundelein Parks is seeking a Swim Instructor to educate and train participants in a safe, fun environment. Hours may vary including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must be 16+ and able to work with children and adults; complete Swim Instructor training; CPR, First Aid and AED certification required. You will introduce aquatics skills, plan lessons, arrive early, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• Must complete Swim Instructor training and CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Introduce aquatics skills at various levels and teach with enthusiasm, knowledge and care.
• Plan and have the lesson available before each class.
• Arrive for lessons at least 15 minutes before each lesson to set up.
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner with parents and participants.
• Report unsafe conditions to Supervisor and follow safety procedures.
• Instruct using correct techniques and maintain progress records.

Individuals must be 16 years of age, or older to be a Swim Instructor. The individual must be able to work with children of many different ages and adults. The individual must demonstrate maturity. The individual must complete Swim Instructor training. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification required and if not certified, must become certified.

  Essential Functions

  • Introduce aquatics skills at various levels and teach with enthusiasm, knowledge, discipline, and care for both group lessons and private lessons.
  • Plan and have the lesson available before each class.
  • Arrive for lessons at least 15 minutes before each lesson in order to set up for class.
  • Conduct self in an effective and tactful manner with parents and participants.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
  • Instruct using correct techniques and demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and progress records on all students.
  • Complete all progress and final certificates for students by the required date.
  • Report to Swim Lessons Coordinator if there are children that need to be moved up or down to another level based on their skill.
  • Maintain a neat and well - groomed appearance while on duty and remain in District uniform attire.
  • Gain knowledge of established Emergency Action Plan and perform appropriate skills and procedures under this plan.
  • Record all time worked accurately.
  • Practice and follow all policies and procedures as stated in the staff manual and directed by Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
