Job summary

Des Plaines Park District is seeking an On-Deck Facility Manager for the Prairie Lakes Indoor Aquatic Center. The part-time role oversees daily pool operations, supervises lifeguards and attendants, enforces safety policies, and responds to emergencies with EMS activation and first aid as needed.

Hours include early mornings and daytime shifts. The ideal candidate has 3+ years lifeguarding experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and relevant Red Cross certifications.

JOB IDENTIFICATIONJob Title: On-Deck Facility Manager-Prairie LakesIndoor Aquatic CenterGrade: VFLSA: Non-ExemptDepartment: RecreationSUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPSReports to: Aquatic ManagerSupervises: Lifeguards and Pool AttendantsBASIC FUNCTIONPool Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned pool, including the supervision of lifeguards and pool attendants.Hours: 5:15am-10:30am and 10:30am-4:00pmESSENTIAL DUTIES1. Implement measures that ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the facility.2. Assure the safety of all guests and staff through enforcement of District rules, policies and procedures.3. Act as the On Deck Facility Manager during “no lifeguard on duty” swim times.4. Plan and implement efficient in-services.5. Schedule, mentor, discipline and evaluate pool attendants and lifeguard staff.6. Take control of and act decisively in any emergencies. Activate EMS, administer first aid or CPR when needed. Complete necessary reports.7. Direct patrons in the event of an emergency, such as fire, severe weather.8. Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons when encountering them in the facility including, greeting with a smile. Answer phone calls and questions/suggestions of guests.9. Complete all required paperwork, payroll, and daily log reports.10. Promote a positive teamwork environment for all staff.11. Diffuse potential situations between guests and staff.12. Delegate work tasks to staff.13. Fill in where needed, when necessary (i.e.: guard pool, assist with maintenance duties, etc.).14. Clean facility as needed.15. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, notify Aquatic Manager of needs in advance.16. Attend Mangers meetings with Aquatic Manager and Aquatic Supervisor as scheduled.17. Communicate with maintenance staff on a daily basis.18. Ability to work flexible shifts including early morning, evening and weekend hours and holidays.OTHER DUTIES1. Implement special events, as necessary.2. Perform and record chemicals tests as necessary.3. Inform all staff of any changes in policy, procedures or rules handed down by the Aquatic Manager.4. Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals5.
