Job summary

Mercor seeks experienced Indonesian Linguistic Experts to join an AI research project in partnership with a leading research lab. The role centers on evaluating how effectively a large language model performs in Indonesian-language tasks and on curating high-quality Indonesian linguistic data to train and improve the model’s understanding and generation capabilities.

You will review LLM outputs, edit and annotate Indonesian text, and collaborate with researchers in a distributed team.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Indonesian with excellent grammar and style.
• Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in Indonesian.
• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage.
• Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed, remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated Indonesian text across translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar tasks.
• Edit, refine, or rewrite Indonesian content to meet linguistic and cultural standards.
• Annotate Indonesian text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features.
• Identify model errors and language gaps, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance.
• Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training efforts.

• Annotate Indonesian text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features.
• Identify model errors and language gaps, and collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance.
• Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training efforts.

You're a strong fit if you have:

• Native or near-native fluency in Indonesian, with excellent command over grammar, syntax, and stylistics.
• Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in Indonesian.
• Strong understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage.
