Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Must maintain confidentiality about students and experiences.
• Self-directed and able to learn required skills.
• Congenial disposition and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Offers instructional support for teachers. Works with small groups and/or individual students.
• Helps students with remedial and/or enrichment activities. Reinforces instructional objectives.
• Provides behavioral intervention support when needed. Solves student concerns discreetly.
• Supports an inclusive educational environment. Helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate peer group activities as directed.
• Collects data as directed.
• Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised.
• Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code.
• Works with the classroom teacher to address persistent behavior problems and provide positive behavioral support.
• Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch. recess, field trips, library, computer lab, etc.).
• Promotes proper use and care of school property. Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and other related concerns.
• Reports evidence of suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law.
• Performs clerical work related to classroom activities. Prepares and distributes classroom materials. Maintains records as directed.
• Prepares classroom equipment for use.
• Helps keep program and storage areas orderly.
• Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required events as requested.
• Participates in district staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as requested.
• Strives to develop rapport and serves as a positive role model for others.
• Perform other specific job-related duties as directed.
