Individual Giving Manager

Responsibility Summary:
The Individual Giving Manager (IGM) leads ChicagoCAC’s individual giving and annual fund strategies, building meaningful donor relationships that strengthen engagement, retention, and revenue. The IGM manages a portfolio of donors, develops and qualifies prospects for major gift portfolios, supports corporate engagement and in-kind giving, and uses fundraising data and reporting to identify opportunities and monitor performance. The IGM supervises the Development Coordinator, providing oversight of core development operations, including gift processing, acknowledgements, recurring giving, and donor stewardship. As a collaborative member of the Development team, the IGM works across fundraising functions to advance shared goals and contribute to a strong culture of philanthropy.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and evaluate multi-channel annual fundraising campaigns, including email, peer-to-peer, direct mail, recurring giving, and events, ensuring alignment with ChicagoCAC’s communications calendar, brand standards, and messaging.
- Develop donor segmentation, testing, and engagement strategies to strengthen donor acquisition, retention, and giving.
- Build and maintain strong donor relationships by managing a portfolio of annual fund donors, with a focus on donors giving $1,000–$2,500 annually, developing individualized strategies to deepen engagement and increase giving.
- Create and oversee routine stewardship activities, including acknowledgement calls and emails, handwritten notes, greeting cards, donor impact communications, and other meaningful donor touchpoints.
- Manage corporate engagement strategies including donor engagement through in-kind giving and resource drives, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships and transition in-kind supporters into philanthropic donors.
- Manage the qualification and development of prospective donors identified through prospecting tools, donor activity, events, and other sources, advancing qualified prospects into appropriate fundraiser portfolios.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews with frontline fundraisers to assess engagement strategies, pipeline health, and progress toward goals.
- Ensure prospect activity, meaningful interactions, moves, and stage transitions are consistently and accurately documented in Raiser’s Edge.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide visibility into donor trends, pipeline health, portfolio performance, and fundraising progress, using findings to identify opportunities and inform fundraising strategy.
Development Operations & Team Management (20%)
- Supervise, coach, and support the Development Coordinator, establishing clear priorities and expectations and providing opportunities for professional growth.
- Oversee core donor operations, including timely and accurate gift entry, donor acknowledgements, annual tax communications, recurring giving, and other stewardship processes.
- Partner with Development and Marketing & Communications colleagues on donor-facing materials, including ChicagoCAC’s Annual Impact Report and other stewardship communications.
- Partner with the Development Coordinator and other internal teams to plan and execute in-kind resource drives, ensuring strong donor stewardship, effective internal coordination, and appropriate tracking of contributions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Discretion
The Individual Giving Manager has m id -level range of discretion and independent decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervisory staff are expected to participate either as a volunteer or paid attendee at organization fundraisers (including but not limited to: Luminary Award Dinner, Associate’s Board Event, A Night of Heroes, etc.) Supervisory staff are also expected to participate in ChicagoCAC sponsored client/staff/community events (including but not limited to: Child Abuse Prevention Month Activities, Back to School Backpack Drive, Kid’s Holiday Party, Spirit Squad Events, etc . ) It is expected that our supervisory staff will participate in as many of these events as possible.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant fundraising, nonprofit development, or related experience; or at least eight years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience developing funder communications, with excellent professional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines, deliverables, and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with donors, colleagues, program staff, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Experience using fundraising databases, prospect research tools, and/or other systems to track relationships and funding opportunities preferred.
- Experience engaging organizational leadership, board members, or volunteers in donor cultivation and solicitation preferred.
- Experience working within victim services, child welfare, behavioral health, human services, or other related fields preferred.

- Timing of vacations may be dependent on client needs, as that’s our first priority.
- PTO goes up to 40 days after 5 years.
- Additional PTO for FMLA-related reasons up to 20 days.
