Job summary

Organizational context: The Office of the Special Coordinator on Improving the United Nations Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSCSEA) supports global efforts to combat sexual exploitation and abuse across peacekeeping, humanitarian, development, and human rights sectors. This role is situated within OSCSEA at UNHQ, New York, reporting to the Senior Political Affairs Officer and collaborating with the Data Analyst.

Job purpose: This role serves to enhance OSCSEA's data management and analysis capabilities to strengthen the UN's response to and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). The incumbent will manage and analyze SEA data from various sources, including iReport and system-wide surveys, to inform reporting, prevention, and response strategies. Key contributions include data clean-up, quality assurance, presentation, and analysis, as well as supporting the development of dashboards and visualizations. The purpose is to provide data-driven insights that support informed decision-making and improve the effectiveness of PSEA initiatives across the UN system, contributing to a safer and more accountable environment.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities involve supporting qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis of SEA data from iReport and annual surveys to inform OSCSEA's strategies. This includes cleaning, quality assurance, presentation, dissemination, and analysis of data from the annual system-wide survey on PSEA. The role also supports the review of annual surveys for future cycles and the maintenance/improvement of data dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Verint, and Excel. Additionally, responsibilities include supporting system-wide SEA data coordination, work on reporting standards, data harmonization, knowledge sharing, and ongoing support for iReport, including manual finalization, field adjustments, data cleaning, and user training. Contributing innovative data-driven solutions and preparing analytical inputs for decision-making are also key duties.

Education:

An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with qualifying experience may be accepted. Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French or Spanish is desirable.

Work experience:

A minimum of one year of experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, or related fields is required. Experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and creating user-friendly data visualizations using tools like Verint, MS Power BI, and Excel is essential. Experience addressing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) or SEA is also required.
