Overview

Our client is seeking a Tax Accountant to support a variety of indirect tax functions, including sales and use, VAT, and property taxes. This is an opportunity to contribute not only to compliance and reporting but also to the financial health and growth of a dynamic organization.

The Role

You will be the hands-on professional ensuring tax returns are filed correctly, reconciliations are accurate, and compliance is maintained across multiple jurisdictions. This role works closely with both tax and accounting teams, bridging operational detail with broader financial reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file timely and accurate sales and use tax returns while ensuring compliance with state and local regulations
  • Maintain and update tax schedules, rates, and jurisdictional requirements across multiple regions
  • Reconcile sales and use, VAT, and property tax accounts to the general ledger and prepare adjusting entries as needed
  • Assist with inquiries from auditors, government agencies, and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor legislative updates and communicate relevant changes to finance and leadership teams
  • Register for sales and use tax accounts as the company expands into new jurisdictions
  • Support audits by gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests
  • Prepare spreadsheets, documentation, and internal reporting related to tax filings and reconciliations
  • Contribute to month-end close activities including tax accruals, prepayments, and related analysis
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to provide accurate data that supports decision-making
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting with a focus on indirect taxes, or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience preparing and reconciling returns for sales, use, VAT, or property tax preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with knowledge of PowerPoint and tax software tools preferred
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to interpret and apply tax regulations
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional approach
