Job summary

County of El Paso is seeking an Assessment & Intake Officer, Intermediate, to assist courts in determining indigency status and to conduct thorough public safety research on defendants. You will provide accurate information to support bond decisions and work with multiple stakeholders to ensure compliant processes.

The role requires strong interviewing and reporting skills, bilingual ability preferred, and willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, within the detention

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field with 2 years of full-time casework or counseling experience.
• Must obtain a valid driver’s license with suitable driving record by hire date.
• Access to a personal mobile smart device by hire start date.

Responsibilities

• Work 24/7 rotating shifts including days, swings, and graves; conduct pre-release interviews and risk assessments.
• Interview individuals, collect collateral information, complete forms, and update county databases.
• Analyze records, update reports, and summarize criminal history information for court reports.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, correspondences, and statistical charts.
• Coordinate with departments and government officials regarding eligibility decisions.
