Job summary

EXP is seeking an Indiana Transportation Leader to guide transportation projects from conception to delivery. You will lead a team, manage client relationships with IDOT, City of Indianapolis, and rail clients, and grow EXP's transportation practice in the state.

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • BS in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Licensed PE in the State of Indiana.
  • Proven record of client relationship development and maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities, with ability to direct staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the successful delivery of transportation projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Recruit, train, develop and retain local transportation staff to deliver projects.
  • Negotiate and manage budgets and ensure financial performance objectives for each project.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and win work for the Infrastructure/Transportation Practice.
  • Supervise staff engineers and technicians to meet deadlines, scope and budget.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross Practice Groups to advance EXP's mission.
  • Represent EXP at professional associations and industry events.

Indiana Transportation Leader

The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision the Transportation Practice Leader with a focus on roadway, bridge, water and railway related projects. The Indiana Transportation Leader will provide leadership for the successful delivery of projects and grow the transportation practice within the state. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in delivering projects, as well as managing client relationships for the Indiana Department of Transportation, City of Indianapolis, surrounding counties and municipalities, NICTD and Class I freight rail clients. This is a seller-doer roll that requires someone with entrepreneurial sprit and demonstrated success in delivering quality solutions for that meet client needs and exceed their expectations. You would help EXP establish a presence in Indiana.

What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Provide leadership for the successful delivery of transportation projects of varying size and complexity;
  • Work with transportation team members from other offices to build diverse project teams;
  • Recruit, train, develop and retain local transportation staff to successfully deliver projects;
  • Negotiate and manage budgets and help ensure financial performance objectives are achieved for each project;
  • Build and maintain client relationships, develop new clients and win work for the Infrastructure/Transportation Practice;
  • Supervise and direct staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines as well as scope and budget requirements; and
  • Work with leadership team within the Infrastructure/Transportation Practice, as well as across EXP’s Practice Groups, to develop and carry out our mission.
  • Represent EXP through professional association membership and participation and at industry events.
What Your Experience Looks Like
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed PE in the State of Indiana
  • Proven record of client relationship development and maintenance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians
  • Strong leadership, project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to recruit, grow and mentor staff
  • Demonstrated history of industry participation and network
