Job summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices (SPDJI) is seeking an Index Engineer to prototype, build and launch indices across asset classes. You will engage with clients and stakeholders globally, driving rigorous development and high-quality delivery.

Ideal candidates have 6–8+ years in indices, strong Python and Excel skills, and a master’s in a quantitative field. The role is based in New York, with a deep responsibility for methodology and compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fixed income and other asset classes is required.
• Understanding index construction, back-testing and optimization is essential.
• 6-8+ years of professional experience in indices or similar role is expected.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop calculation prototypes and test cases for new indices.
• Perform test calculations and reconcile results with clients.
• Analyze and implement indices onto a Python-based platform.
• Create and review index methodologies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support operations in launch, delivery and service quality.
