The Champion Therapy Center seeks an independently licensed mental health therapist to join our outpatient practice in Lexington, KY. This 1099 independent contractor role starts part-time with potential to expand to a full-time caseload based on client demand and mutual agreement.

Qualifications

Position Overview

The Champion Therapy Center seeks a compassionate, experienced, independently licensed mental health therapist to join our growing outpatient mental health practice.

This opportunity is ideal for a motivated clinician seeking professional independence, scheduling flexibility, and the ability to develop a rewarding caseload within an established practice.

The position begins part-time, with the opportunity to expand to a full-time caseload based on client demand, therapist availability, and mutual agreement.

The Champion Therapy Center provides office space, computer equipment, electronic health records, billing services, administrative support, and referral opportunities. We are seeking a clinician who will also take initiative in developing professional referral relationships and helping grow their caseload.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

• Provide individual, couples, and family psychotherapy within professional competencies.
• Complete comprehensive clinical assessments and establish appropriate diagnoses.
• Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based interventions.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Monitor client progress and coordinate care when clinically appropriate.
• Maintain ethical standards, professional boundaries, and client confidentiality.
• Exercise independent clinical judgment in the delivery of psychotherapy.

Caseload Development

• Collaborate with The Champion Therapy Center to establish and grow a consistent client caseload.
• Accept appropriate referrals generated through the practice based on availability and clinical fit.
• Actively develop professional referral relationships through networking, community engagement, and outreach.
• Participate voluntarily in mutually agreed practice marketing and referral development opportunities.
• Maintain consistent appointment availability to promote continuity of care.
• Communicate scheduling availability and capacity for new referrals.
• Support appropriate client retention through quality care and professional follow-up.

Professional Expectations

• Maintain an active, unrestricted independent clinical license.
• Maintain professional liability insurance and required credentials.
• Comply with applicable Kentucky licensing requirements, HIPAA, professional ethical standards, and payer regulations.
• Complete documentation in accordance with established clinical and payer requirements.
• Maintain professional communication with clients and administrative personnel.
• Manage clinical responsibilities independently and professionally.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related mental health field.
• Active, unrestricted independent clinical license, including LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or an equivalent qualifying license.
• Experience providing outpatient psychotherapy.
• Strong diagnostic, assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience treating children, adolescents, adults, couples, or families.
• Training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care, or other evidence-based approaches.
• Experience working with insurance-based outpatient services.
• Familiarity with SimplePractice or similar electronic health record systems.
• Availability for evening and/or weekend appointments.

Compensation Structure

The Champion Therapy Center offers competitive flat-rate compensation.

Starting Compensation: $45 per completed, collected therapy session.

Growth Incentive: $50 per completed, collected therapy session, available when the therapist consistently maintains an average of 20 completed sessions per week, subject to mutually agreed written terms.

Additional compensation arrangements may be negotiated for specialized services or services with different reimbursement rates.

Compensation applies to eligible services as defined in the independent contractor agreement. Payment terms, including timing and treatment of denied or adjusted claims, will be specified in writing.

Scheduling and Growth Opportunities

This position is designed for an independently licensed therapist who wants to start with a part-time caseload and expand over time.

Therapists may establish mutually agreed appointment availability during daytime, evening, and weekend hours based on client demand and available office resources.

Both the therapist and The Champion Therapy Center will contribute to caseload development through referrals, professional relationships, and appropriate outreach.

A full-time caseload opportunity may become available as demand increases.

Independent Contractor Relationship

This position is intended to operate under a 1099 independent contractor agreement.

The therapist will maintain independent clinical judgment and professional responsibility for services provided. A written agreement will outline specific terms for scheduling, compensation, use of practice resources, professional responsibilities, and termination.

The contractor is responsible for applicable self-employment taxes and maintaining required professional credentials and insurance.
