Job summary

Eufaula City Schools is seeking a Custodian (Maid or Janitor) to perform routine cleaning of school facilities, reporting to the Principal. The role runs a 192-day contract, 8 hours per day, with the ability to work independently in a school setting.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and the ability to operate cleaning machines. The job requires physical stamina and the capacity to lift varying weights, with exposure to chemicals and outdoor conditions typical of school

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, practices, tools and materials.
• Ability to operate cleaning machines and equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and understand routine instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical concepts.
• Ability to interpret a variety of written or instructional materials.
• Physical demands: frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional above 50 pounds, varying exertion.
• Work environment with exposure to chemicals, weather, noise and moving parts.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain school buildings and grounds as assigned.
• Operate cleaning machines and equipment and report needed repairs.
• Clean and properly store machines and equipment after use.
• Recommend cleaning supplies and maintain inventory.
• Report hazardous situations to Principal or Designee.
• Perform minor maintenance and report major needs to Principal or Designee.
• Maintain ethical and professional standards.
• Participate in in-service training.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal or Designee, not in conflict with board policy.
