Alfred H Knight invites applications for a General Inspector to join our laboratory team in Port Allen/New Orleans, LA. You will verify client instructions at consignment locations, witness cargo handling, perform active sampling, and prepare samples for lab testing.

The role requires independent work, reliability, and clear communication with clients and staff. Responsibilities include site audits, documenting observations, and producing reports using provided templates.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as packing lists and procedures.
• Follow directions ensuring accurate and prompt reporting.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel).
• Able to lift to 50 lbs and perform physical sampling.
• Communicate clearly with onsite and office staff.
• Be reliable, organized and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Attend inspection locations in accordance with job instructions.
• Carry out assignments per client instructions and industry standards.
• Supervise loading or discharge of cargo.
• Physically perform routine material sampling with standard equipment.
• Prepare and report inspection results using templates.
• Dispatch samples to internal or client destinations as instructed.
• Ensure safety and compliance with site policies.
• Communicate status updates via email/phone.
• Travel within 100 mile radius of Port Allen as needed.
