Job summary

Alfred H Knight in Port Allen/New Orleans seeks a General Inspector to verify client instructions at consignment locations, witness loading and discharging, and prepare samples for laboratory testing. You will attend inspection sites, ensure compliance with client standards, and maintain precise reporting for each assignment.

Responsibilities include recording results, communicating status to clients, and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as packing lists and procedures.
• Follow directions to ensure accurate results and reports.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical sampling.
• Communicate effectively with onsite and office staff.
• Maintain a professional and independent stance for assignments.
• Detail-oriented with reporting and photographic documentation.
• Reliable and able to work independently with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Attend inspection locations in accordance with job instructions.
• Carry out assignments per client instructions and industry standards.
• Supervise loading or discharge of cargo in containers or other transport.
• Physically perform routine material sampling using standard equipment.
• Communicate, verify, and execute inspection requests.
• Verify shipment quantity, weight, and quality conforms to client specifications.
• Record and report details of inspection accurately by instructions.
• Provide written reports summarising operations using templates.
• Send/receive emails and phone communications for coordination and scheduling.
• Collection of documents and samples as applicable.
• Dispatch samples to North America or as instructed by the client.
• Ensure safety and comply with instructions for materials/equipment.
• Follow health and safety policies and site-specific requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
