Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a mid-level counselor to manage a caseload of clients in community residence settings. You will meet with clients weekly, coordinate referrals to medical and mental health services, and document service plans and psychosocial reports.

You will provide supportive counseling, monitor safety, and assist with intake, admissions, and daily living activities. CPR certification or willingness to obtain it is required; strong writing and basic computer skills

Qualifications

• BA preferred; HS diploma/ GED required and significant experience with substance abuse and/or mentally ill population.
• Excellent writing skills; basic computer literacy.
• CPR training or willingness to take CPR class.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of an assigned caseload, meeting clients weekly in Community Residence.
• Refer clients to medical, mental health and/or substance abuse services and involve providers in care.
• Provide supportive counseling and monitor safety in client environment.
• Assist with intake/admission and prepare client housing applications, service plans, and psychosocial reports.
• Attend community meetings and provide emergency first aid/CPR when needed.
