Job summary

Journey to Thrive ILS in El Cerrito, CA seeks an ILS Instructor to empower adults with developmental disabilities by teaching independent living skills in home and community settings.

You will develop personalized service plans, teach budgeting, meal prep, personal hygiene and community navigation, document progress, and coordinate with families and regional centers to support client goals.

Qualifications

• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of Independent Living Skills instruction and person-centered planning.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• CA driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized ILS instruction to clients in home and community settings.
• Develop and implement personalized service plans to support client goals and promote self-sufficiency.
• Teach daily living skills including budgeting, meal preparation, personal hygiene, and community navigation.
• Document client progress, maintain accurate case notes, and submit timely reports.
• Collaborate with regional centers, support teams, and families for coordinated care.
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments, errands, and activities as needed.
• Advocate for client rights and promote inclusion within the community.
