Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC) seeks a dedicated counselor to support New Yorkers experiencing homelessness. You will conduct intake, provide individual and group counseling, assist with entitlements, and help place clients in stable housing, while maintaining thorough documentation and progress notes.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma, preferred BA, and Spanish-English bilingual abilities. Prior work with homeless mentally ill and CPR training are beneficial; MS Office skills are

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; BA preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred.
• Experience with homeless mentally ill populations recommended.
• CPR training or willingness to take CPR class.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Intake and assessment.
• Individual and group counseling.
• Concrete services, entitlements and advocacy.
• Escort clients to appointments.
• Documentation, record keeping and progress notes.
• Psychosocial and aftercare follow-up.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Housing placement.
