Job summary

The Arc Eastern Connecticut in Niantic, CT is seeking a Direct Support Professional for a full-time role. You will deliver training and daily living support to individuals with IDD as part of a caring team.

You will implement individualized plans, document progress, assist with medications, and promote health, safety and independence while following Arc policies. Starting wage is $20.20/hr with benefits including health insurance and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with developmental and physical disabilities preferred.
• Ability to mentor and assist people in recreation, independence, communication and health.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training, support and assistance in personal care, daily living skills and health needs.
• Participate in designing and monitoring individualized support plans.
• Administer prescribed medications as ordered.
• Complete documentation including program data, incident reports and health records.
• Ensure health and safety, CPR/First Aid/Heimlich procedures when needed.
• Provide transportation to activities and prepare meals following menus.
• Mentor participants in life skills and advocate for their rights.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain professional conduct.
