Job summary

Wayfinder Family Services, Hatlen Center in San Pablo, CA, seeks an Orientation and Mobility Instructor I/II to organize, plan, and deliver services for adults who are blind or visually impaired. The role includes developing the financial management curriculum, serving as a case manager, and coordinating with the rehabilitation team.

Requires a Master’s in a related field, ACVREP COMS certification, knowledge of adaptive equipment, and a CA driver license.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in special education, rehabilitation, or related field with emphasis in orientation and mobility.
• ACVREP COMS certification required; new graduates welcome to apply.
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
• Valid CA Driver License with a minimum of three years driving history.
• New graduates can apply while pursuing COMS certification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an individualized Orientation and Mobility instruction program.
• Plan and deliver curriculum for group classes.
• Maintain detailed progress notes and prepare required reports.
• Collaborate with staff and community resources as part of the rehabilitation team.
• Assist in applicant interviews and client placement discussions.
• Contribute to department planning, evaluation, and future planning.
