Job summary

Valdese Weavers, a 100% ESOP textile mill in Valdese, NC, seeks an IND Maintenance Mechanic A (1st Shift) to maintain plant equipment and facilities. Expect setup, repair, and preventive maintenance on production lines, piping, electrical controls, and rolling stock.

1st shift with potential bonuses and premiums available for other shifts. The role requires reading blueprints, welding, and mechanical skills; OSHA/safety practices and housekeeping are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and performing basic math skills in the English language.
• Experience in welding, pipefitting, boilers, air conditioners, air compressors, and operation of lathes and milling machines.
• Must possess good mechanical ability.
• Heavy lifting required.
• Mechanical and electrical blueprint reading.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for setup, installation, and repair of production and building equipment; special purpose machines; piping and tubing systems.
• Repair plant facilities including flooring and tile; perform general carpentry work.
• Inspect equipment for lubrication; perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose trouble, disassemble, estimate labor time for outside repairs, and perform repairs as needed.
• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and other machine tools.
• Weld and work with sheet metal as required.
• Work scheduled overtime; maintain good housekeeping.

As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.2nd and 3rd shift do receive a shift premium of $1.00. We offer a $50 attendance bonus for every two weeks in which you miss no time, not including our shutdown periods. This bonus would provide an extra $0.62 to your hourly rate.**Job Summary:** General upkeep of all plant property and equipment.**Tools and Equipment used:** Hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammers, hacksaws, micrometers, calipers, etc. and power tools such as drills, portable band saws, etc.**Essential Functions:** Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards:* Plan the procedures for the setup, installation, and repair of production and building equipment; special purpose machines; high pressure steam, water, air, and gas lines/systems; electrical and electronic controls; piping, and tubing.* Repair plant facilities including flooring and tile.
