Job summary

Vector is seeking an Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Technician in Utah to ensure that every component entering production meets stringent quality standards for unmanned systems. You will inspect PCBs, cable assemblies, and mechanical parts, verify workmanship against drawings, and document findings with the Quality team.

This role emphasizes hands-on electronics inspection, soldering, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant electronics/mfg experience or strong willingness to learn preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic soldering and cable assembly; IPC certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to follow written work instructions, inspection procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming electronics components, PCBs, cable assemblies, mechanical parts to verify quality.
  • Verify workmanship against engineering drawings and inspection criteria.
  • Document nonconforming materials and report concerns to Quality Lead or Supervisor.
  • Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Perform basic soldering, cable assembly, and minor rework to support inspection activities.
  • Follow SOPs and quality standards with precision.
  • Support production by ensuring approved materials are available for manufacturing.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace using 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to resolve issues.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and contribute to a culture of quality.

The Role

As an Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Technician, you'll help ensure every component that enters production meets the quality standards required to build the next generation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) supporting critical defense missions around the world.

What You'll Do
  • Inspect incoming electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), cable assemblies, mechanical parts, and other materials to verify they meet quality standards.
  • Verify workmanship and compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials or quality concerns to the Quality Lead or Supervisor.
  • Complete inspection records and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Perform basic soldering, cable assembly, and minor rework when needed to support inspection activities.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality standards with precision.
  • Support production by ensuring approved materials are available for manufacturing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace using 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, mechanical assembly, quality inspection, or a similar production environment is preferred-or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform basic soldering and cable assembly; IPC certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to accurately follow written work instructions, inspection procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with drones, UAVs, or UAS platforms.
  • Experience inspecting printed circuit boards (PCBs), cable harnesses, or electronic assemblies.
  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or related IPC certification.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools, measuring equipment, and basic electronic test equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required for detailed inspection and assembly work.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to inspect small electronic and mechanical components.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other industrial conditions.
