Job summary

JPS Northeast Elementary in Michigan is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required.
• Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
• Master’s degree in Special Education preferred.
• Experience working with students with disabilities desirable.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal education laws.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to design engaging, individualized lessons.
• Proficient with technology to enhance instruction.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
• Assess and evaluate students' progress regularly, adjusting instructional methods and goals as necessary.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and fosters a sense of belonging.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to discussions about student needs and potential interventions.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEP documentation, and communication with families.
• Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
• Advocate for students' needs within the school and the broader community.
