Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or special education preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of special education principles, practices, and laws.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to individual needs.
• Patience, empathy, and passion for supporting diverse learners.
• Proficiency with technology and educational software.
• Certification or training in CPR and first aid preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks and comply with policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing IEPs.
• Provide one-on-one support to students in academic subjects.
• Facilitate small group activities and promote inclusion.
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior.
• Assist with behavioral intervention plans and positive behavior support.
• Help create a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Collaborate with special education staff and therapists.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Assist with preparation of instructional materials.
• Supervise students during lunch and other non-instructional times.
