Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation.
• Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs.
• Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct and manage student behavior.
• Experience: Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area; prior experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff to develop IEPs through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
• Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Assess student learning styles and plan appropriate instructional strategies, activities and materials.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines, employing varied media to meet student needs.
• Assist students with physical disabilities and personal care as needed.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Plan and assign work for teacher aide(s) and volunteers and oversee completion.
• Establish open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
