Job summary

The Research & Instruction Librarian at University of Alabama Libraries supports students, faculty, staff, and the community by providing research assistance and instructional services both in-person and online. This role collaborates with colleagues in the Learning Commons on instructional initiatives and creates and maintains learning materials, promoting equitable access and student support.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Library Research & Instruction, the librarian exercises no supervision

Qualifications

• Knowledge of research methods and resources.
• ACRL Information Literacy Framework and inclusive teaching.
• Instructional design principles and learning technologies (LibGuides).
• Ethical use of AI in academic research, instruction, and work-related tasks.
• Ability to design and deliver inclusive library instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide research assistance and instructional services in-person and online.
• Collaborate on instructional initiatives with Learning Commons.
• Maintain learning materials and research guides.
• Contribute to team-based instructional initiatives.
• Promote equitable access and student support.
