Comal Independent School District seeks a dedicated special education teacher to provide personalized learning experiences for students with diverse needs. You will develop and modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work within self-contained, team, or itinerant settings as assigned.

The role requires a Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsements and ESL certification within one year. Collaborative ARD participation and adherence to IEP goals are essential for student growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Teaching certification held in multiple areas is preferred.
• Teachers must obtain ESL Certification within one year of employment.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff to develop IEP through ARD process for each student assigned.
• Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies reflecting understanding of learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula as needed and assist special education students in regular classes with assignments.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet needs of each student.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology in teaching/learning process.
• Provide or supervise personal and medical care and feeding as stated in IEP.
• Be a positive role model and support the district mission.
• Create a conducive learning environment and manage student behavior.
• Consult with teachers and district/resource personnel regarding student needs.
• Maintain district records and comply with regulations.
