Responsibilities

• Adapts activities and materials under the direction of the teacher.
• Administers tests.
• Assists special education students requiring daily care (e.g. toileting, feeding).
• Attends Individual Education Program meetings with assigned student(s).
• Confers with teachers and/or parents as may be required.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans (reading, math, language, etc.).
• Instructs students individually or in small groups (reading, spelling, self-esteem, daily living skills).
• Maintains classroom equipment, work areas, and student records.
• Monitors and assists students during assigned periods in various environments.
• Participates in in-service workshops and training.
• Performs clerical tasks (scheduling, copying, materials, grading).
• Picks up and/or delivers homework/assignments to students at home.
• Provides documentation of students' work.
• Responds to emergencies involving students.
• Assists other personnel as required.
